FACTS/CONTENTIONS:
According to plaintiff: A wheel came off a vehicle on a freeway and struck another vehicle, causing the vehicle to collide with a cement wall. The plaintiff was Karmen Grigorian, age 36. The defendants were Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company; Just Tires; and Samuel Heilman. On January 12, 2002, at approximately 7:25 a.m., plaintiff was operating her 2001 Toyota Highlander westbound on the SR-2 (Glendale) freeway, approaching the transition to southbound I-5. Plaintiff was on her way to her place of employment, The Cleaning Place, in El Monte. Defendant Heilman was operating his 1989 Nissan Sentra ahead of plaintiff's vehicle in the lane immediately to her right. As both vehicles were approaching the two-lane transition to the southbound I-5 freeway, the left wheel and tire of the defendant's Sentra separated entirely from his vehicle and entered into plaintiff's lane of travel directly in her path. Plaintiff had no reasonable opportunity either to significantly slow her vehicle or to divert her path of travel. The front of plaintiff's vehicle struck the free-rolling wheel and tire, causing the vehicle to become airborne and to violently collide with a cement wall that formed a portion of the transition tunnel between westbound SR-2 and southbound I-5.

CLAIMED INJURIES:
According to plaintiff: Approximately $58,858 past medical; approximately $285,000 future medical; approximately $250,000 past and future loss of earnings.
